La nuova Executive Assistant (cosi' si chiamano qui le segretarie) di NY pare essere fantastica. superefficiente, organizzatissima (esattamente quello che ci vuole per uno sbadatone come me) e gran lavoratrice. La cosa degli americani e' che non prendono ferie volentieri, o quantomeno si sentono in colpa a farlo, e cio' vale per alcuni anche con i giorni di malatia!
Come direbbe Asterix... sono pazzi questi Americani!

Cathy: Thanks. I'm not feeling 100% better but I always feel uneasy calling in sick two days in a row unless I'm extremely sick. I can muddle through today. ;-)
Gao: Dear Catherine, I really appreciate your work ethics, but when you are sick I do not think you should feel pressured to still come to the office, but rather you should take good care of yourself at home. : - )
Plus you have your laptop and you can always take care of a few "really" urgent things if necessary.

Non c'è nulla da fare, lo stile europeo non ha rivali. Tra l'altro un recente studio faceva notare come l'abitudine di andare al lavoro mezzi malati favorisce invece il diffondersi delle malattie e quindi l'innalzamento dell'assenteismo generale ed un calo della produttività.
